4koma Competition

4koma (pronounced Yonkoma)is, in short, a Japanese 4-panel comic strip. Using 4 panels ordered from top to bottom, the artist attempts to tell a short joke. 4koma are published widely in Japan, be it in magazines, tabloids, the comic section of newspapers or even in bound tankubons. Famous examples of 4koma include Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh 4koma Competition will be held on Day 2.

Character Design Competition

The Character Design Competition pushes aspiring artists creativity to the furthest! Armed with nothing but their stationaries and their imagination, participants are required to flesh out a character based on a specific theme given right on the day itself. Are you up for the challenge? The Character Design Competition will be held on Day 2.

Rules and Regulations

• Open to all.
• All contestants are required to bring their own drawing tools and colours (dry mediums only – no water colours).
• The format is 3 columms of 4 panel strips on an art block paper.
• Each participant will receive a number tag upon registration. Participants are required to wear this tag during the duration of the competition. Those without tags will not be allowed to enter the competition area. There will be no replacement for lost tags.
• During the start of the competition, participants will be given one or more themes that should be incorporated into their 4-koma drawings. Any drawing style is acceptable as long as there are no elements that might be deemed inappropriate, offensive or sensitive (eg. nudity, religion, violence).
• All drawings must be original work.
• All artworks will become the property of GACC and will not be returned.
• GACC is free to use the artworks for future purposes but copyright and acknowledgment will be given to the creators.
• Prizes will be given to the top 3 best entries.
• Failure to follow the rules might result in instant disqualification from the competition.
• Judges’ decision is final.
• Online registration is only for booking a slot in the competition. Payment is to be done during GACC before the event starts. Please submit a complete form to gacc.arts@gmail.com and bring a copy of the form along with your Identification Documents (IC/ Passport) as proof. Your spot will be forfeited if you do not report yourself ONE HOUR before the competition.
